The small man is out and about after surgery. Still playing the wounded soldier - needing to be carried! The stiches came out last week.

I enjoyed a great Saturday at Boston Book Festival. Here with fellow speakers David Whittle and Helen Golden.

A visit to Southwell Minster over the Bank Holiday. Ollie and I went to listen to the choirs afternoon rehearsal.

Back to Ronnie Scotts yesterday - for the amazing Mosyses Dos Santos and his guests. Table in front of the stage - add a glass or two of Shiraz. A great evening.

CWA. Midlands writers. Sunday lunch in Grantham. Lovely people and good lunch. Embarrassing disaster - I realised I'd lost my purse. Lovely Sue Morrison came to my aid - saved me from having to do the washing up. I found the purse at home under the sleeping dog!

@book_boston @BZephaniah Such sad news. I remember his wonderful performance that evening. Witty, upbeat and joyful. He held the audience.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of @BZephaniah The Professor was a headliner of our 2021 festival and spoke so eloquently of his life and his work. We send condolences to his family and friends and encourage everyone who isn’t familiar with his work to go and seek it out.

A friend has borrowed this book from a library. It is on the Queen Mary 2 - crossing the Atlantic. Amazing!

Really good newsletter about what success means. As someone who is 7 books in and never broken out, I relate to this a lot - and the point about social media offering a bubble of toxic positivity is well-observed. (1/2)
