Amid the many negative stories about the region, there is at least one positive note. Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, had one of its worst droughts in decades last year. This year has been the opposite, with some of the heaviest rainfall in decades.

No true Muslim would ever call Jesus (pece be upon him) one-eyed. He's a prophet of God. Those people are not Muslims. They're Zionist proxies, supported by Salafis. They're destroying Syria further for Israel to expand. Otherwise, they'd fight Israeli annexation of their lands.

🚨🚨URGENT Keep an eye and ear on Hama! The Christian population is facing a massacre! Armed men from the al-Amshat gang are openly threatening Christians in the Hama countryside and calling Jesus one-eyed. 👉t.me/Intel_Rojava/3…

Some thoughts on the unprecedented attack on Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani’s residence in Duhok: - First, the attack appears to have been largely symbolic, aimed more at sending a message than causing harm to Nechirvan Barzani or anyone else. This is not his main residence, and from what the footage shows, the drone seems to have landed in the yard. - Nechirvan Barzani is the most pragmatic leaders in the KDP, perhaps even in Kurdistan as a whole. He usually leave space for diplomacy and negotiation rather than resorting to threats or revenge (unlike other figures within KDP). Symbolically targeting him may have been an attempt to draw the Kurdistan Region into a more direct involvement in the conflict. - The attack also shows that in this conflict, no one and nowhere in the Kurdistan Region is truly untouchable. Given the KRG's serious lack of meaningful air defence, the most high-profile individuals and locations remain especially vulnerable. - And while the attack will no doubt anger both the KRG and the KDP, there is, in practical terms, very little they can do. Revenge seems neither plausible nor rational. The perpetrators operate in the shadows, and the KRG does not really have the means to confront them directly.

Targeting Nechirvan Barzani’s residence in Duhok is yet another unprecedented escalation by Iranian proxies in Iraq. Unlike attacks on US bases or energy fields, striking the private home of a Kurdish leader carries a distinct and powerful message. Duhok may have been selected because, unlike Erbil, it lacks air defense coverage.

Iranian proxies are doing everything they can to drag the Kurds into an internal war in Iraq. Condemnation is no longer an adequate response. If the Iraqi government does not act within the coming days, a catastrophic military confrontation between the Kurdistan Region and Iranian proxies is increasingly likely.

More videos of the looting of Christian shops in Suqaylabiyah, #Syria An argument between a resident of Suqaylabiyah and another from Qalaat al-Madiq led to scores of men from the Sunni town storming the area and attacking shops, homes and cars. Since the fall of Assad in December 2024, members of the country’s Alawite, Druze and Christian minorities have been subjected to attacks by gunmen loyal to the country’s new Islamist rulers. Hundreds of people have been killed, including Alawites in Syria’s coastal region in March last year and Druze in the southern province of Sweida in July. Ali Shuaib, the legendary dean of war correspondents, a veteran who defined the field, and Fatima Fatouni, the indomitable, fearless war correspondent. Martyrs of the journalists' convoy, struck down by an Israeli attack alongside their fellow cameramen from Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen. Our hearts are shattered, but we will not be silenced. The truth will be told, no matter the cost. Condolences to the profession of journalism, and to the families and loved ones of the martyrs. To God we belong, and to Him we return.

Instead of calling for an end to yesterday's pogroms against Christians in #Syria, more men are mobilising to attack them again. Where's the government? Oh wait, it's part of the problem..

Now Iran's IRGC condemns the drone attack on Nechirvan Barzani's residence in Duhok and calls it a "terrorist act"!! From the IRGC Public Relations statement: "The drone attack on the home of the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in Duhok is an example of a terrorist act by aggressive enemies, the precedent of which we have seen in recent days in the cowardly assassination of senior Iranian officials and the oppressed people of Iran by the terrorist American and Zionist armies."
