Morocco: Authorities apprehended Kenyan national Elisha Odhiambo Asumo in Casablanca in a coordinated operation with US officials, dismantling a network supplying weapons to the CJNG. The operation also resulted in the arrest of Bulgarian Peter Dimitrov Mirchev in Madrid, alleged to have ties to Viktor Bout and accused of supplying rocket launchers and sniper rifles, and Tanzanian Subiro Osmund Mwapinga in Accra, while Ugandan Michael Katungi Mpweire remains at large. Since 2022, this network forged end-user certificates to aid arming CJNG, facilitating cocaine shipments to the US. Judicial files show a test shipment of 50 AK-47 rifles and ammunition originated from Bulgaria using forged documents via Tanzania.
