I am sorry to see that despite years of talk, gender inequality is on full display at the #UNGA General Debate. Less than 10% of speakers this week are women. This is unacceptable – especially when we know gender equality delivers for peace, climate action and much more.

On the 17th of April 2024, I will attempt to break the Guiness World record for the longest Chess marathon in the heart of Times Square New York City for 58 hours without losing a game. Doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.

When people share a common vision and purpose, they have the mindset of completing each other instead of competing against one another. The glue that holds a team together is unity of purpose!

How can we accept that Africa still lacks a single Permanent Member in the Security Council? Institutions must reflect today’s world, not that of 80 years ago. September’s Summit of the Future will be an opportunity to consider global governance reforms & re-build trust.

Leaders must communicate that it’s OK not to respond to things in real-time, that it’s OK to decline meeting requests, that it’s OK to turn off notifications, and that it’s OK to not be online all day. s.hbr.org/3R7nLr4

It’s easy for a talented leader to attract and recruit followers, especially if that leader has high charisma or a compelling vision. But the future of an organization depends on the development of more and better leaders, not the recruitment of more and better followers!

Not all criticism is constructive. Not all critics are thinking critically. Weak critiques attack your identity. Decent critiques challenge your ideas. Strong critiques sharpen your thinking and improve your ideas. Listen closely to the people who care enough to help you grow.
