BEING TEXT OF A PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) HELD 1ST MAY, 2026 AT WADATA PLAZA, ABUJA ON THE OUTCOME OF THE SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT DELIVERED 30TH APRIL, 2026
Gentlemen of the press, distinguished members of our great party, and fellow Nigerians,
We wish to first thank all Nigerians, particularly our loyal party members, who stood firmly by the party throughout these turbulent times. Your steadfastness and commitment to due process have kept the spirit of our great party alive.
We are here today to set the record straight and address the deliberate distortions being peddled by one Kabiru Turaki, SAN, and his associates regarding the Supreme Court judgment delivered on the 30th of April, 2026.
Let it be clear and unambiguous that the Supreme Court judgment of yesterday only nullified the illegal Ibadan “Convention” and dismissed the appeal filed by the Turaki-led purported National Working Committee for lacking in merit.
This remains the sole substance of the judgment, contrary to the false narratives being circulated. The judgment did not uphold any suspension or expulsion of any officer of the party.
The reason is simple: the issue of suspension or expulsion was never before the Federal High Court, let alone the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court.
It was neither canvassed at the Federal High Court nor formed part of the questions for determination at any level of adjudication.
The apex court addressed only the matter before it, which is the validity or otherwise of the so-called 15th and 16th Ibadan “Convention.”
Accordingly, throughout the Supreme Court judgment, there was no mention whatsoever of suspension or expulsion of any party officer.
It is also important to state that there has never been a vacuum, obstruction, or absence of leadership in our party that presupposes an interim take over of the administration of the Party by any authority. The leadership structure of the PDP remains intact, lawful, and fully operational under the able National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, and our indefatigable National Secretary, Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu. Their positions remain duly recognized.
What we are witnessing is a desperate attempt by a rejected group to twist the clear facts contained in the judgement of the Supreme Court in order to mislead the public and seek undeserved sympathy. I make it bold to say that the judgement is a public document which can be accessed by anybody to ascertain the content of the said judgement.
The same individuals who disobeyed valid court orders to conduct the illegal Ibadan Convention have continued in their pattern of lawlessness by assembling again, even after the Supreme Court has spoken.
Their actions only reinforce what is already evident: an agenda set out with the sole intention to destabilize the Party.
The general public should now understand who is committed to the survival of the PDP and who has been working tirelessly to undermine it.
On the issue of the purported takeover of the party by the Board of Trustees (BoT), or claims of summoning the National Executive Committee (NEC): there is no provision in the Party’s Constitution that grants the Board of Trustees the power to take over the leadership of the party or assume the functions of the National Working Committee.
Most curious is the claim by Senator Adolphus Wabara, whose tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees had long expired even before the onset of this crisis. The only known legitimate leadership of the Party’s Board of Trustees is that led by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa. Senator Adolphus Wabara should retrace his steps from making statements on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) forthwith. Any such infractions within the Party will no longer be tolerated.
We urge the public, party members, and the media to disregard the nuisance and propaganda of Sen Wabara and his cohorts, and rather be guided by truth and legality.
We wish to reiterate that

Yesterday night, Ekwy made a video to show us the house where she said a young man kpai himself. Very modern beautiful house and environment too
She said it was in her estate I think. A relatively new site. Workers were everywhere, they tried to stop him but could not get in. The gates were locked and as much as they tried and appealed he did not stop. Na so our properties be now. Communal living is almost non existent
This is not the normal kpaing oo. I mean... he sliced his thr0at consistently until he ble^d out and fell over st0ne cold.
Every of the step, people videod and posted it!!
I went on Twitter and the video hit me! After all I watched that young man Nija Popo off na so the app brought this my way too
I tried but I could not. My eyes were closed. I played it like 5 times before i could watch it while fast forwarding
It is gruesome and surreal. Even horror movies wont give us that effect. Unbelievable. If I did not see Ekwy video I for think say na AI. It is not.
Una don finally me^ss my mind up completely this week. I feel numb.
What can cause this level of depression or m^adness. Watin? Person slau^ghter himself? In a house that does not even look middle class oo. Ekwy said something about the house belongs to his brother who is abroad and he stays there alone. This na African magic?
How do we explain this? He has no better way of ending in all it has to be this way? He was sli^cing and at no point felt pain until he sev^ered a major artery that could end it all? How? In full view of passers-by? Like he come balcony and gave them a show😭😭😭
Which kind drug go numb pain and your ability to have a conscience and remove you from reality. Wtf is going on? What happened to this young man's life? Why did he snap so br^utally?
No extended family anywhere?
Friends nko?
School mates?
Anybody!!
How long has he be crying for help with his voice, behaviour or contenance and nobody reached out or asked him if he needed help. Did he ask and got none too?
I am so tired. That was a grown man. Whatever tilted him to do this did not start yesterday oo and nobody paid attention. He was left to wallow in his mis^ery and thoughts and he concluded that sli^cing his thr0at and kpaing is better than living.

Her name is Joy. She graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, and after completing her NYSC, she is now seriously ill in her village. Even her grandmother, who was taking care of her, has now gone blind. 😭💔
Please, if you come across this, show some compassion and support. Even a kind word or small gesture can make a difference. 🙏

This is what some Nigerians are doing to themselves and the country.
Meanwhile these same people will be blaming government everyday while looking forward and even praying for better life and development in their areas.
How on earth could someone blame the government for this kind of crime?.
Safeguarding of National Assets should be everybody's responsibility.

💔⚠️
Three days ago, the Nigerian Army jumped a fence to shoot and kill an innocent Nigerian youth in his room, a serving NYSC member. They wiped up his blood, picked up his brain, and called it an accidental discharge. Yesterday, a Nigerian policeman shot and killed a restrained youth who said he was sent to pick up a package. He begged for his life. His only request was justice. All he wanted was justice, but he was murdered by those who should protect and serve him. I am so ashamed and infuriated. Nigerian youths have faced too much in this country. They have been through so much. 💔 When will enough be enough
POLICE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND.

@PDPRepublic Under Jonathan, fuel was ₦87. Buhari and Tinubu once protested when fuel hit ₦150,calling it anti-people.Today, under their leadership, fuel costs far more, crushing Nigerians with hardship. What they condemned in opposition, they defend in power. Nigerians deserve better.

UPDATE: On the kidnapped John Arum Azi ⤵️
Allegedly, Grace is among the few leading the effort to raise ransom money for John Arum. She called John’s brother to ask how things are going.
The brother told her there’s a problem.
The kidnapers said they will no longer accept ₦5 million which was agreed upon, they now want ₦50 million instead! Do you know why they said that???
They said they are seeing the contributions people are making and are convinced that people can afford to raise ₦50 million.
They said they're seeing all the receipts of the donations from Facebook and other platforms.
So they believe ₦50 million can easily come from people’s pockets.
We're fvcked... These people are still out there and will NEVER be caught. Despite all analysis and technology. Omoh! 💔
