Last time NYC school budgets cut to this extent was 2007-2008 during Great Recession. Unacceptable then but even more now given city budget in surplus, billions in reserve, more state Ed funds & nearly $5B in unspent federal stimulus funds for our schools. Could be unprecedented.

This morning alone, we saw a shooting in Sunset Park at the subway platform and a *second* hate attack on Sikh Punjabis in Richmond Hill. NYPD did not prevent either incident - yet they will receive billions more to let this problem fester. This is not the public safety we need.
