Hornets are much bigger than honey bees! We have one native hornet - the european hornet (Vespa crabro - on the right) shown here for a size comparison with our little honeybees. On the left is the invasive asian hornet (Vespa velutina).

Where do you find asian hornets? We’re keeping watch all week, but we don’t expect to see any this far north. This is a distribution map of the asian hornet (data from gbif.org)
