The @LAZoo's decision to send Billy & Tina to another zoo is wrong and shows clear disregard for their wellbeing. These elephants deserve peace and freedom at a sanctuary. We support @BobBlumenfield's motion to halt the move. Let’s do better. #FreeBilly #FreeTina

Patients with no medical training are sometimes totally right. They say I think I'm having a retinal detachment, heart attack or pneumonia. I welcome this. The challenge is to be a resource steward, address the concern and keep an open mind. Patients can be totally right.

Returning home from a walk in Surrey, Canada yesterday (last day of Feb) I saw these daffodils getting ready to show their beauty. I’m ready.

1/ After residency at Mass General Hospital, I reported to Atlanta to meet my fellow CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officers. I have never felt so intimidated by my peers The best and the brightest, they were star clinicians, had served in disaster zones; MD/PhDs and MSF.

@NTFabiano I totally agree, this also bothers me! I am opting now to only publish open-access - and if you can’t, consider publishing a summary on Medium or similar freely accessible publication. I did this for my most recent paper and am very happy there’s no paywall for readers!

I have published several papers behind paywalls, that I, the author, cannot access. That says something about the state of academia.

"Our results reveal that whenever handwriting movements are included as a learning strategy, more of the brain gets stimulated, resulting in the formation of more complex neural network connectivity...typewriting do[es] not activate...networks the same way that handwriting does."

After years of effort, I’m proud to announce a companion workbook to 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵’𝘴 𝘙𝘰𝘢𝘥𝘮𝘢𝘱 and a text reviewing the neuropsychological implications of a range of medical and behavioral health conditions. Both will release early next year 📚

Ideas to get pets more pets on college campuses to promote student well-being: 1. University libraries partner with local cat shelters to have cat sections in their libraries. 2. Small dog parks on campus with some student workers during peak class times where students can walk to campus with their dogs, leaving them for 90 min., and then get them after class.

This morning I got a call from a 202 area code number I didn’t recognize, but I answered anyway. The person on the other end said, “Mayor Ward, I’m calling from President Biden’s office, do you have time to talk to the president?” 1/ @JoeBiden @KamalaHarris @DemMayors
