Specifically, I was looking at the latest Kedem Judaica auction, which has this King David mizrach up for bid. "Embroidered European "Mizrach" Plaque – King David playing the Harp "Mizrach" plaque. [Probably Central Europe, 19th or early 20th century]."

Woot! @Columbia came through. They scanned Beatrice Weinreich's 1957 Masters Thesis "The Prophet Elijah in Modern Yiddish Folktales" for me. It's really cool. Hit me up if you want a copy or if you have Adobe Acrobat and can help me get the annoying watermark out of it.

Just discovered this at the British Museum.
This is a relief from the southwest palace of Sennacherib at Nineveh (dated 700–692 BCE), showing four rows of men pulling ropes to move a colossal-sized winged bull for the palace.
The men in the second-from-the-top row look conspicuously like the Judeans from the Lachish reliefs—found at the same palace.
Their distinctive headgear and clothing seem identical in the two sets of reliefs.
(See the next post for a close up)
Could these be Judean captives from the Assyrian invasion of Judah just a few years prior?
I'm sure this suggestion has been made before...
