I was making this point the other day: this 👇 is why the so-called "department of government efficiency" is very unlikely to achieve much. Because when you look at who actually works for the US federal government the IMMENSE majority (about 80%) of people are related to defense and national/domestic security. The US is, more than any country on earth, a military and police state. And given Trump's and Republicans' agenda of a stronger military, stuff like solving the border crisis, deporting illegals, etc. they're likely to very much INCREASE jobs in those areas, not decrease. Hard to see the U.S. ending up with a much smaller army under a Trump administration... So if 80% of the government is essentially out of bounds for DOGE right from the get go, it's largely pointless initiative from the standpoint of broad government efficiency.

(7/8) We reject the argument put forward by some liberals that the election of Trump is a sign simply of the reactionary backwardness of the population. This is false, and is just one more form of hand wringing by people who are unwilling to take up the challenge of eliminating capitalism and constructing a new, rational society that puts the needs of people and the environment ahead of capitalist corporations. Numerous progressive ballot initiatives succeeded even in states where Trump won. For example, in the 10 states where abortion rights were on the ballot, clear majorities were in favor in eight of them – with the only defeats in conservative-dominated Nebraska and South Dakota.

If you are to blame someone, blame those with the economic and political power to do something about people’s grievances, but have chosen to do nothing- the Democratic Party. They are actively financing and aiding the expansion of genocide; allowing basic rights like abortion and LGBTQ rights to be rolled back; and ran a campaign playing at being more Trump than Trump himself to cater to conservatives, while at the same time fear mongering and pandering to the most marginalized in society. They won’t accept responsibility. They will gaslight and blame others. The people, should not fear or backdown, we must organize!
