Thanks to local TV stations, 1965-1975 was profilmic movie-watching period of my life. I loved when the UHF stations came along and, struggling for programming content, showed 5 or 6 movies a day. It was TCM before TCM (with just a few commercials).

@classic_film The original Bat Cave, NC address was not used due to a complaint from the woman who owned the actual bat cave. She was a big Proctor & Gamble (sponsor of the photo giveaway) stockholder and didn't want crowds exploring the cave. @classic_film

@classic_film A friend told me the story of a contest give away during the early days of the Batman tv series. The return address of the contest was in Bat Cave, NC, which is not far from my hometown of Asheville, NC. I think the contest had some connection with the Palmolive soap company.

@classic_film I agree… I absolutely love Batman (so deliciously over the top and FUN… everything it was intended to be) but, when it comes right down to it, The Adventures of Superman will have my vote. It was.. and is… absolutely magical.

As much as I enjoy Batman, I prefer the non-camp approach of The Adventures of Superman. Who else remembers the episode with Sterling Holloway as a scientist who in invents a tasty glue for the back of postage stamps--except the glue turns out to be a powerful explosive, too?
