GIST ! GIST! BASE ON TRUE LIFE STORY After about a week of talking stage, this girl and I decided to meet. She asked where we should meet, and I sent her the location. I got there before her. On her way, she couldn't find the place and kept flashing my number for directions. It got to a point where I sent her ₦500 airtime so she could call properly. When she arrived, she wasn't comfortable with where I was seated and suggested we find another spot. We did, and the conversation started flowing. After a while, I offered to get us something to eat. I mentioned snacks, but she asked why I assumed that's what she wanted. Fair enough. So I asked what she'd prefer. She ordered Asun rice pepper with protein. While waiting for the food, she kept taking pictures and videos. I noticed, but didn't say anything. The food came, and I also ordered tiger nut drink and two meat pies for myself. Funny enough, I couldn't even eat them. Before we left, I gave them to her for her younger brother. The date itself wasn't bad. The conversation was good, the vibe was there, and we both seemed to enjoy ourselves. We walked each other to the roadside, boarded separate vehicles, and went home. She messaged me when she got home to thank me for the date. The next day, she thanked me again. For some reason, my instinct wasn't completely comfortable with how much she kept thanking me, but I ignored it. Then came Day 3. Nothing. No message. No call. I called a few times and sent a text. No response. Late that night, she flashed me. I looked at my phone and told myself: "I'm not calling back." And that was the end of it. Till today, I still don't know whether she enjoyed the date, felt guilty, lost interest, or simply got what she came for. What do you think happened?

Good morning. Builders don't grow alone. If you're in the construction, renovation, architecture, engineering, or real estate niche, let's connect and engage consistently. Your next opportunity could come from one mutual. 🏗️

Construction Niches, please don't air me. What's the worst construction mistake you've ever seen on a site? Pictures and stories welcome.

You're not wrong. A population can't shrink below replacement level forever without consequences. The bigger question is why people are having fewer children. When family formation becomes delayed by economic pressure, changing priorities, and uncertainty about the future, low fertility becomes a symptom of deeper societal issues not the problem itself.

Calling it a catastrophe may be dramatic, but a fertility rate of 1.48 is a warning sign. No society can continuously replace fewer people than it loses without facing economic, social, and cultural consequences down the line. The real question is why so many people no longer see family life as achievable or desirable.
Katie Miller@KatieMiller

Australia’s fertility rate has plummeted. They’ve hit the lowest rate in history at 1.48 — well below the 2.1 replacement rate. The average age of mothers was 25 in 1971, and now it’s 32. This is a human catastrophe.
