@DeRushaJ He got 2 years whacked off his term in the ballot referendum to move elections so I think of it more as a 2.5 term.

@kpottermn If they didn't randomly cancel flights and strand passengers I would be all in on the random cheap Sun Country flight.

Yes, my fellow Minnesotans, I know you still feel burned by Sun Country's transformation to a low-cost carrier. But the fact they're profitable when virtually every, far bigger budget airline is hemorrhaging money is surprising. And impressive.

Sun Country is proving to be the (weird) little airline that could. As the rest of the industry struggles with sagging demand, they're just shifting away from passengers (planning 10% less capacity in Q3) & flying more cargo for Amazon instead. 12 straight quarters of profits.

You know it's NSDA debate nationals because I'm teaching a high school student to iron.

In the 19th century everyone was convinced that diptheria was caused by poor housekeeping, dirty houses, and failed wives (spoiler alert: it's bacteria). It wasn't any more true than RFKJr's measles lies but it's a pervasive American disease nonsense history repeating itself.

I am beyond words about the commutation of Leonard Peltier. His release from prison signifies a measure of justice that has long evaded so many Native Americans for so many decades. I am grateful that Leonard can now go home to his family. I applaud President Biden for this action and understanding what this means to Indian Country. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…

@kiradavis I wonder whether age plays a role - my grandparents were 47 when I was born (because they had kids at 20 and my parents had me at 27) and we had a great relationship. By the time the last grandkid was born they were 70 and much less involved. Not disputing other factors though.

I’m thinking about writing a book about the devastating phenomenon of baby boomer grandparents refusing to be directly involved with their children and grandchildren. I’ve heard so many sad stories from GenX parents like me recently. I have one too. I think it should be explored

It's the JV/Novice State Debate Tournament tonight (day 1) here in Eagan, so that means it's also the time of the year I complain about open classrooms. Whoever came up with open classrooms hated teachers, students, and the concept of education.

@WritesForRent Have discussed that story twice with high school students in the past two weeks. Everyone should read the whole book.

I firmly believe that all of the distraught takes on this election outcome from the "smart" journalists, talking heads and the like are because they did not read Derrick Bell's Space Traders and take it seriously.

No group of people is more indignant about the need to vote for Kamala and Tim and not voting third party than teenagers who are old enough to remember Trump getting elected but not yet old enough to vote. They are LIVID at the idea that they could get screwed a second time.

My daughter is serving as a first-time student election judge and the process has been great. ALSO she is SO PLEASED to get to say hi to all of her neighbors today and to help them vote.
Max Hailperin@MaxHailperin

Minnesotans greeted by one of tens of thousands of election judges should appreciate that person as an individual but also think of the organizational accomplishment. They were all hired, trained, scheduled, equipped. Trainers were trained, and trainers of trainers. Boggling.

@smcgee Most heart wrenching part of being a challenger, and also that statute needs to be updated.
