Sympathy follows disabled people around. It's often pitying, and isn't a real effort to listen and understand. 🤝 Solidarity steps up. It's unity and support. It's important. Disabled people don't need your sympathy. But solidarity and allyship? That's the good stuff 💜

Genuinely shocked at the state of local #NHS mental health crisis support. Spent last night supporting my lovely son through a horrible time. Local crisis team has closed down, and police have stopped “dealing with mental illness”, so we were directed to NHS 111 and their supposed “mental health crisis line”. Sat for about an hour in a queue and no one answered!! In the end we managed to talk him out of taking his own life but only because we are both mental health workers! @UKLabour please, please make urgent changes to #saveourNHS

Britain’s human rights watchdog is investigating the Department for Work and Pensions. Our degrading benefits system has failed disabled people for decades. This inquiry is long overdue.

idk I’m just really frustrated about the only semblance of support you can get as an ND adult is when you’re in the depths of crisis and distress and surely we should want more than that, where’s the support to uplift us to joy?

Enough is enough. Disabled people are not the problem. Last week the Prime Minister made a speech about so-called 'sicknote culture'. He also proposed major changes to disability benefits. Today we're launching a petition in response to this full-on assault of disabled people.
