@Clauvc84 I’m not saying neglect your kid. Parents are so uncomfortable at the thought of baby crying for a few min (which they often do for no reason!) that they lose their own humanity! Infant care should not take away your ability to care for yourself! I advocate for parents AND babies!

There’s also another side to this: Your baby is not going to die if you put them down for a moment to take a shower. They won’t be traumatized if you are not holding & looking at them 24/7. Stop losing yourselves in your infants/tots & do research so you don’t hurt development!
bunnie@CuriousBunnie12

if you’re a mom on here talking about how you don’t shower for 72 hours straight, can’t change your clothing, can’t perform basic hygiene because your baby is just inconsolably attached at your hip, im going to assume that your husband absolutely hates you

@emberambience while i completely understand that, how to self soothe is a very important lesson parents have to teach their babies. feeling discomfort/pain when hearing your child cry does not absolve you of your parental duty to foster proper development.

@kcrrod A lot of ppl say this but don’t consider the mothers who have a hard time hearing their children’s screams & cries. Most women aren’t holding the baby 24/7 bc they don’t want the baby to cry, obvi that’s part of it, but the maternal instincts that light up your brain hurt too

@MuffinKiller243 Never said it’s harmful to hold your baby! & saying “they’ll learn that eventually” is why we are where we are with development! YOU are supposed to teach them that independence! It won’t happen overnight, they’re going to cry at first!! A few minutes at a time! It’s a process ☺️

@kcrrod Holding your baby is not harmful to them lol. They will eventually learn to be independent but letting them cry their voices raw while you anxiously do household tasks is not the best option for everyone

@kcrrod so we're putting babies down and just letting them cry instead of expecting fathers to parent for 30 minutes?

@MuffinKiller243 I understand that it can be emotionally painful to hear your baby cry. But forcing the child to be codependent by never teaching them skills that parents are supposed to teach them, is extremely hurtful to the child.

@CuriousBunnie12 as an early childhood teacher, seeing all of the talk about same bed cosleeping makes me feel so sad. And don’t get me started on the trad ladies saying honey is safe for infants. There’s SO MUCH misinformation out there right now and the kids are hurting from it 💔

@kcrrod as much as I agree with this it’s so hard to advocate for it when every mom centric space online pushes the narrative of intense attachment parenting
