"Wait, WTF is this," you ask? Oh, nothing much... Just "The Tomb of Raithwall" from Final Fantasy 12... RUNNING ON AN ACTUAL FREAKING SEGA DREAMCAST!!! Mad modder Esppiral has cooked us up another round of epic console blasphemy with this one, this time teaming up with DC homebrew scene veteran, PH3NOM, who was also one of my partners in crime on our Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City ports to the Sega Dreamcast. Anyway, Esppiral has managed to warez this iconic scene from the big bad PS2 for our little white box of dreams by leveraging PH3NOM's new engine, the aptly named "Dreamcast Engine." I've been watching those two cook up crazy new scenes and push the DC to new levels for most of the week in our Discord server, so be sure to tune in to the two of them for updates! Follow PH3NOM for more updates on the engine and his science experiments with new rendering techniques using the DC's PowerVR GPU here: itch.io/profile/ph3nom… Follow Esppiral for more blasphemous experiments with bringing iconic scenes from other platforms to the DC here: @esppiral" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@esppiral

C++ teach me how to use void*, I now have void* for life, my software work, my family is fed. I go to rust, they tell me void* is unsafe, can’t do this, can’t do that, enum not integer. My software not work, “but it’s safe”, family don’t care, family is hungry, I go back to C++

@LeonardMJoyner @disclosetv To answer your question, the cops screwed all of the evidence gathering up, as well as not reading him his rights, tampered with evidence. So his lawyers got anything they found under those pretences thrown out

@disclosetv What the absolute hell? He planned the murder, hunted the guy down, and shot him in cold blood! How is that not blatantly first degree murder?!? Apparently it’s ok in this judges eyes to commit first degree murder, so long as you’re murdering the “right” people.

@Valmirius @ericparker @valigo @momo5502 Usually they will eventually get cracked but 180+ days for some games makes it worth it for them. Some studios remove it after the initial 3mo launch window. Suits would rather people not buy it at all vs give in to lost sales due to piracy (even if it's irrelevant)

It's irrational really. They all get cracked in the end. It's a bit like a Streisand effect shouting "don't crack my game please" inviting the greatest reverse engineering talent to do so for the thrill of the challenge. They would be better off spending that time, energy and money on making their games better with updates

Finally learned why Denuvo destroys performance. It runs normal code through a fantasy stack-based VM that jits the code back together with a bunch of junk jumps on the fly, completely trashing CPU cache and undoing optimizations that developers worked hard on. And this is apart from constant timing and fingerpringing, and a bunch of other evil stuff. Truly a bane of gaming.

@valigo @momo5502 Yes, this is the case of not fucking it up. Certain devs I believe like in RiME thought they knew better and implemented it on I think player movement iirc. The performance hit is usually due to longer loading times and startup when done properly, but gameplay is a no no.

That's crazy. I just read there are few ways it's getting done, with commissioning Denuvo to do it themselves being the most reliable way to not fuck it up. This makes sense why some games got destroyed, especially early on, and some games don't see a lot of impact. I'll still watch your talk though, because I'm interested in low level details, but thanks!

Wow, went to bed and this blew up, I didn't think you'd like it this much. Thanks everyone! Want to test this out? Drop a texture from your game and I'll work my magic. Ill reply with the remaster in the comments! Here are some recommendations for remasters I've gotten so far, if you see something you want be sure to like it or mention it, I need more feedback and I'm taking what you guys say into account! Dino Crisis (1) Half-Life 1 (1) Max Payne (2) Driver Series (3) Battlefield 2 (1) Sonic Unleashed + Generations (1) Digimon world (1) Bugs Bunny Lost in time (1) Midnight Club 2/3 (2) Legend of Zelda OoT/Majoras mask (2) Shenmue 1-2 (1) Thief (1) Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth (1) GTA2 (this one was easy, almost done) (1) Metal Gear Solid 2 Subsistence (1) Kingdom Hearts 2.5 (1) Transformers war for cybertron/fall of cybertron (1) Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2 (1) Medal of Honor (2) Resident Evil 2 (1) Fallout 3 (1) Outlast 1 (1) Beyond Good & Evil (1) Total Overdose (1) Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (1) Tomb Raider AOD (1) Unreal Tournament (1)
Stormslayer -HD Remasters/Gamedev@StormslayerDev

IM GOING TO REMASTER SO MANY GAMES NEXT YEAR! I created a hybrid scaling technique that can remaster most textures with 100% accuracy. Went from doing 1-4 a day manually to 20+. Really awesome stuff is coming. Feel free to send recommendations here. If its popular enough I'm happy to do it! #gamedev

@HammerHand66896 @pcgamer The headline is vastly out of context. The full quote more or less goes he needs his hw to bit have bugs requiring full ECC, because a lot of user issues with Windows comes down to a faulty hardware or memory (which true, why it works for millions and only thousands have issue)

@pcgamer So instead, he pushes new rust code for “better” memory management in Linux while it creates tons of bugs in code that was just fine. Thanks for Linux, but screw Torvalds these days.
