Crimson Desert just hit "Very Positive" on Steam.
And it makes sense. More you play, better it gets.
It's kinda crazy that this game at least to me feels like it could be all-time great just with some far better writing because that really is what holds this back.

#CrimsonDesert patch Version 1.00.03 is rolling out.
This patch includes some of the improvements and fixes we were able to prepare first, including changes based on your feedback, like the addition of a Storage at Howling Hill and the beginning of improvements to keyboard and mouse controls.
Version 1.00.03 is available for download on Steam. PlayStation, Xbox, EGS, and Mac will follow at a later time, and we'll provide an update in the notice below as soon as they're available.

Really? Just in the matter of a few weeks we had Highguard lose 50% of its playerbase on day 2, and over 90% by day 4.
Marathon itself is at around a 40~% drop give or take from the last time I checked last week.
This game "drops" around 20 thousand players ~8%, and you "never seen this many players drop before"?

Unfortunately, the Kearush the Slayer boss fight really, really highlights how fucking shit the combat can be in Crimson Desert.
It's so frustrating wanting to enjoy a game, but running into this many major problems.

Gamers that are white-knighting for Crimson Desert are making a mistake.
Pearl Abyss still has resources on patching and updates.
Issues, errors, and problems should be voiced and heard... because it increases the chances word gets to PA and they fix the game.
Don't you want the best version of this game?

They kept AI assets in the final game despite saying they would replace them and only admitted it after the community found out. This isn’t just a slip it’s a breakdown in trust and quality control. Players expect transparency from day one not after the fact. Apologies and patches are basic fixes the real test will be if they truly improve their process and never let this happen again.

We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert.
During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier phases of production. However, our intention has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction.
Following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release. This is not in line with our internal standards, and we take full responsibility for it.
We also acknowledge that we should have clearly disclosed our use of AI. While these tools were primarily used during early production, with the expectation that these assets would be replaced prior to release, we recognize that this does not excuse the lack of transparency.
We sincerely apologize for these oversights.
We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward.

This game cooks. It's not for everyone. If you like your games spoonfed to you, you will hate it.
If you like a vast, interactive, open world that doesn't hold your hand, you will love it.
