I’ve spent months talking about the need for stronger oversight and accountability in Ohio’s public benefits system. The headlines may be new, but the problems are not. I’m glad to see these issues are finally getting attention. We owe it to taxpayers to keep digging, keep asking questions, and keep fighting fraud, waste, and abuse.

Bad actors are constantly looking for new ways to steal taxpayer dollars. When someone asks to change bank account information, stop, verify, and document before a single dollar goes out the door. Trust, but verify

Any time you receive an email request to change bank account information every red flag should go up because this is a frequent scam tactic. Exercise extreme caution and take no action. To be safe, have the requestor come in person to process the change. #cybersecurity

Over the past few years, my office has released reports raising concerns about weak oversight, questionable billing patterns, and the need for stronger accountability in Ohio’s Medicaid system. Those control weaknesses - failing to require gps tracking of providers and other enhanced fraud detection tools - made the Medicaid system a prime target for fraud. I’m glad to see that the Department is taking steps to strengthen those controls. Taxpayers deserve a system focused on care, not exploitation.

🚨ICYMI: @FoxNews highlights recent findings from my office involving the concentration of Medicaid-funded home health agencies in Franklin County. 
When nearly 40% of Franklin County’s home health agencies are concentrated in just two ZIP codes and receiving a massive share of taxpayer dollars, it raises serious questions about oversight and accountability. 
Ohio taxpayers deserve transparency, accountability, and a system focused on serving vulnerable people, not exploiting loopholes.

David Yost has been an outstanding public servant for Ohio and I wish him luck in his next phase. Now it’s up to the governor to decide how to fill this post for the next few months. What I know for sure is that I’m running to be Attorney General in 2027 and sharing my experience fighting waste, fraud, abuse, and my vision for the office with voters. In the short term I look forward to having conversations with the Governor about the process.
