@NMAAHC February 14th is the birthday of Frederick Douglass, a towering figure in the struggle for civil rights in 19th-century America. My Newport ancestor, Reverend Mahlon Van Horne, stood alongside Douglass on the lecture circuit, championing the cause of equality for all.
