@neogoose_btw The server works with and can return binary data. A well designed database allows you to return only what you need, filtered by the other fields in the database.

I never liked databases as an idea. You literally send a string query over TCP to postgres and it returns you data over tcp as strings. There is so much potential to make this whole thing better …. but everyone seems to be just fine with it.

@Adriksh Probably "different" because the strings aren't NULL terminated. The IF is comparing memory addresses.

@javilopen I don't want AI absorbing intellectual property. Also, the output of AI has to be reviewed and fixed, which can take as long (or longer) than judt writing it myself. AI also requires time to write prompts, which is lost effort IMO.

Serious question: Is there any programmer left in the room still coding the traditional way, character by character, without using AI? If so, why? Explain your reasoning.

@Adriksh Flip the game. Send the passenger location out through the network of cars. Have each car calculate the distance and send back the result. Each node then filters out all but the smallest distance. The passenger device connects to the lowest distance it receives.

Interviewer: There are 100,000 drivers constantly moving around New York City. A user opens the app and requests a ride. How do you find the absolute closest driver in under 50 milliseconds without calculating the distance between the user and every single car?

If you’re a developer, you’ll relate to this story. One random afternoon, a friend messaged me: “Bro, the app is down in production.” Meanwhile, the same app was running perfectly on my laptop. Same code. Same repo. Same commit. Nothing made sense. If you’ve ever experienced this, retweet and bookmark this thread, you’ll probably need it someday.

If you’ve built software long enough, you’ll eventually learn this painful truth: Just because something works in development… doesn’t mean it will work in production. Not even close.

QUESTION: We have seen the Iranian people risk death by swarming the streets many times before. Now their leaders are dead and strongest army on earth is playing bodyguard for them. So why no uprising? Not judging. Just a genuine question. Where is the uprising?

The colossal change of opinion on Iran in the last 24 hours by Trump's admin is due to patriots in America calling bullshit. The people with MILLIONS of followers willing to call it out. These heros could literally be saving American lives, Americans hard earned money and America. I hope this continues to deescalate and the noticing continues.
