Really awful listening to @rteliveline, women receiving the worst news about their pregnancy while alone. We absolutely have to lift the restrictions in maternity hospitals. Attending scans and going into labour alone is absolutely unacceptable

While the Minister raised important points, she failed to respond to the main issues I raised on behalf of new mothers. They want clear guidelines supported by evidence and rationale.

I raised the issue of restrictions in maternity hospitals which prevent partners or loved ones being with the mother during the entirety of the labour today.

We are seeing restrictions across society being revised and eased. So why not in maternity wards? This needs to be addressed immediately.

Like Sarah says- surely we can set the bar higher than avoiding death? Its a pretty low bar to be happy with- as long as no-one dies, its good enough? Ye’re happy with that???
