British comedy at its best has an edge. A bit of anger. A sense it could go off the rails. Classic SNL had that too.

One thing I loved about the World Cup in 1978, was David Coleman’s commentary which always sounded like he was talking down a muffled phone line. His commentary in the Scotland v Peru game was brilliant, but unfortunately not the result Scotland wanted.
