Swazi miners at a South African gold mine, 1888. Following the devastating Rinderpest outbreak that decimated national cattle herds, many Swazis were forced to seek new fortunes in the gold mines of the Witwatersrand. Source: Swaziland by Ettagale Blauer and Jason Lauré (1996).

Most Africans are unaware that Nestle adds sugar to baby cereals sold in Africa, while equivalent products in Europe are sugar-free. This hypocritical approach endangers the lives of children in Africa.

INTSHENGULA NOPHONDO: Handcrafted from cow rib bone, animal horn, or hardwood. The craftsman carves a small leaf-shaped bowl at one end for scooping, while the handle is shaped into a fine comb or hairpin. Geometric patterns are then cut into the bone and darkened using cattle fat and ash, giving it that signature deep, blackened beauty. When you have more than one, they are called iziNtshengula. The herbs scooped by iziNtshengula were not casual remedies. iNhlungunyembe, the leaves of Acokanthera oppositifolia, were dried, powdered and inhaled as snuff specifically to relieve severe headaches. For blocked nasal passages, healers used powdered bark of wild indigenous trees ground to a fine dust, cleared the airways and restored breathing. iMpepho the sacred Helichrysum species, was inhaled to calm the mind, reduce spiritual heaviness and ease pressure in the head. These were not superstitions. These were precise, generations-tested herbal sciences. 🍃🫶🏽

Today marks 30 years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission began. It’s first hearings took place in KuGompo City on this day in 1996. The first person to speak was Nohle Mohapi-Mbetshu, activist and the widow of the first Black Consciousness Movement activist murdered in detention on 5 August 1976, social worker, SASO Permanent Organiser and director of the Zimele Trust Fund, Mapetla Mohapi.

Victoria Falls is experiencing the largest volume of water in 70 years right now. On the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia (with 75% of the best views only visible from Zimbabwe), the falls are the largest curtain of falling water in the world. Kariba Dam will probably overspill this year & we might see the sluice gates opened for the first time in many many years, @mimmitwit @Mavhure @matigary @Zimparks

Today, #InimbaMzansi turns one. A year ago, on the 14th of April 2025, we introduced a story to the world, one that began with a simple, provocative question: “What if a newlywed, new mother is given the opportunity of a lifetime, and chooses herself, even when it costs her everything?” I never imagined, in my wildest dreams, that this story would grow into what it has become. That it would travel beyond our expectations. That it would find its way into so many homes, and more importantly, so many hearts. What started as a “what-if” has become a living, breathing world, one that continues to evolve, expand, and resonate. A world where love is tested, ambition is challenged, and choices have consequences. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. And the most beautiful part? We’re still having fun. We’re still telling the story. And the world of Inimba is only getting bigger, bolder, and even more unforgettable. To everyone who has watched, supported, believed, and carried this story with us, thank you. The journey continues.

Inimba is just - 🤌🏽 Look at how this "confession scene" is blocked. It almost feels like a court room and Zwelinzima is on the stand. He sits alone in one side of the table while the rest of the cast is all sitting on the other side watching him. CINEMA! 🙌🏾 #InimbaMzansi

Nobody wants to admit that President Cyril Ramaphosa is a worse president than President Jacob Zuma because nobody wants to admit that education is not everything. Zuma was labelled uneducated, so admitting he may have been better threatens the entire belief system.

The body speaks early, but when its voice is ignored, illness grows louder and deeper. If sickness is allowed to root itself, it spreads through the whole being and drains the life force within. By the time the body is weakened, healing demands more than it once did. One must listen and act before the imbalance takes hold.🍃🫶🏽
