@KiprutToo To generate money, most of the time the exchequer sends insufficient funds, which are most of the time late. A public hospital with a private wing can bridge some of this gap.

As a pharmacist, what's a drug myth you've heard that left you bewildered? Someone came to the pharmacy to ask for Andrew liver salt and ampiclox, and because I always like to know the reason a client is getting any antibiotics, I asked... Just guess her answer 😭

@MsMiriti @FNyadimu That's the government's responsibility. I guarantee you if the public hospital pharmacies are fully stocked, remember their drugs are even cheaper; those pharmacies will automatically downsize.

KMPDC should shut down pharmacies operating right next to public hospitals. Many are owned by clinicians who refer patients there for lab tests and drugs.

@DseraDsera11 @Entr_dawood Non-surgical disciplines tend to be constantly even more consulted, you've been made to believe when a leader supplies empty boxes or full of saline, especially at the county level, and the next day when the patient finds no drug, they claim medics stole it.

@JoelJirane In counties there is an available ambulance with fuel and a driver, but a referral cannot be made without approval from headquarters, sometimes costing lives.

Bare in mind hiyo ambulance inakua fueled na county, dere analipwa na same county. Referral system inafaa kuwa very simple and straight. Pole sana.

Medics are using normal saline to disinfect the skin before injection because surgical spirit is not available. Surgical spirit 500ML is 161 shillings. Politicians wako na pesa mingi hadi ya kununua bloggers hapa.

@JoelJirane Administration will do a PR on it, inviting the media for the delivery of medication only to discover it is normal saline. When patients start to flock in and ask for the drugs, they come breathing fire about how doctors are stealing drugs to stock their pharmacies.

@Asamoh_ Most governors lie to their people. They upgrade hospitals by name, which does not meet the set standard, a level 4 that is a health center, but most people like the ones you are arguing with celebrate how they now have a referral.

Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital is a public hospital in Kisii. It is the largest hospital in Kisii County and is accredited at Level 5 by the Kenyan Ministry of Health. Do you even know how facilities are classified? There are only 6 level 6 hospitals in the country.
Kevo Realtor@CGivewell

@Asamoh_ Wewe hujui unasema nini. Kisii Referral (KTRH) is level 6. It was upgraded 2014

@MichaelKNku @Dr_AustinOmondi NHIF 500/month, and maturity after 60 days made the informal sector keep their payment up-to-date to avoid any inconveniences for SHA. They know I will register when I need the service and stop after use, plus there's a lot of public disinformation.

@Dr_AustinOmondi Did NHIF have better collection rates? Could people be hesitant to contribute given the depressed payouts and higher contribution rates based on a %age of income vs flat rate of kshs500 pm for non payslip holders as was the case?

29 million Kenyans are enrolled to SHA but they rely on the 3.5 million with pay-slips to contribute for everyone. This funding model will collapse as long as government doesn’t find a way to collect from the 25million non remitters.

@9k_aris Lopha and Super Metro, after Kimbo, bypass its express and charge all drop-offs the same. This one will charge for every stage differently; hence, it picks up passengers every stage. For express, even if all alight and you are left alone, their trip has been covered.
