H.E. David Kerich, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the United States, welcomed a vibrant gathering of young professionals to the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington, D.C., for an evening of engagement, networking, and dialogue on future partnerships between Kenya and the United States. The Ambassador showcased Kenya’s global leadership in innovation, including the transformative impact of M-Pesa and Nairobi’s emergence as the renowned Silicon Savannah, while underscoring the country’s immense opportunities across technology, agriculture, clean energy, healthcare, tourism, education, creative industries, and investment. He also highlighted Kenya’s rich cultural heritage, globally celebrated wildlife, breathtaking tourism attractions, and exceptional sporting excellence. Encouraging young professionals to consider Kenya as a destination for investment, collaboration, innovation, and leadership, Amb. Kerich reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to serving as an active bridge between Kenya and the United States by fostering meaningful partnerships, advancing economic diplomacy, and connecting the next generation of global changemakers with opportunities in Kenya.

The Ambassador highlighted Kenya’s transformation as one of Africa’s most diversified free market economies, underscoring significant progress in trade connectivity, investment reforms, and emerging opportunities across key sectors. He shared the vast and untapped trade potential between the two countries, observing that even a modest increase in Kenya’s share of U.S. imports would generate substantial mutual economic benefit. The discussions also explored future collaboration in innovation, artificial intelligence, and structured skills mobility in critical sectors including healthcare, ICT, and renewable energy. The Embassy appreciates WIPG and Mr. Nelson Garcia for convening this meaningful engagement and looks forward to advancing partnerships that promote shared growth and prosperity.

On 11th and 12th May, Nairobi will become the meeting point of Africa’s voice, ambition and future as Kenya hosts the Africa Forward Summit. Today, I officially received the symbolic ceremonial key of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), marking Kenya’s full readiness to host this landmark continental gathering. The handover, led by KICC Chief Executive Officer James Mwaura through Cabinet Secretary @rebecca_miano, formally transferred operational responsibility of the venue to my office and to H.E. @arnaud_suquet, Ambassador of France to Kenya temporarily, as co-hosts of the Summit. I commend the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, KICC management and staff, the Summit Secretariat, our French partners, security agencies, protocol and technical teams, and all institutions that have worked tirelessly over the past months to prepare for this historic moment. The engagement underscores the growing demand for efficient, accessible, and citizen centered service delivery across the diaspora. Kenya’s diaspora remains a strategic pillar of national development, driving growth through meaningful contributions, investments, and knowledge transfer, while projecting the country’s excellence globally. The Embassy reaffirms its commitment to strengthening engagement, expanding service delivery, and fostering impactful partnerships. I held a productive engagement with Geoff Anisman and Alison Moylan, from the U.S Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). Our discussions focused on advancing a structured framework for cooperation between the Government of Kenya and ECA, with particular emphasis on cultural heritage preservation, people-to-people exchanges, arts diplomacy, and capacity building for Kenya’s cultural sector.

I was honoured to grace the Passport DC, an international cultural and diplomatic celebration held annually on the first Saturday of May in Washington, D.C.
