Next, I spent some time studying PBR - physicall-based rendering. I'm intrigued by the "Disney Principled Shading" model and implemented it. Here's a screenshot from that version.

I fixed up the shadows. They have soft edges now. I fixed the shadow acne by simply not using shadows on the cube. It is a convex shape, so it can't self-shadow, and nothing is between it and the lights.

@FogleBird Unnecessary copy, which might be expensive. Every stupid decision has a "good" reason behind it. Collectively, they turn C++ into a steaming pile of incidental complexity.
