This comes a day after the National Assembly approved the partial divestiture from Safaricom Plc, a deal that is earmarked to yield ~ US$1.9 billion towards the National Infrastructure Fund

The National Assembly has approved Sessional Paper No.3/2025 on the government's partial divestiture from Safaricom Plc effective April 1st, 2026. Divestiture to be executed through the Block Trade Platform of the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Upfront payment to be made in lieu of future dividends, GOK earmarked to receive Kes 40.2 billion on the residual 20.0% shareholding. There shall be no acquisition related redundancies in Safaricom Plc & the existing business model with Safaricom Plc dealers will be retained for at least 10 years.

@afro_hamza I could as well say the issue is also about women having more say today about not getting married early, & going to study, or choosing not to have kids. I'd say this is more represented in modern "affuent" societies & depletting TFR rate compared to not beleiving in santa claus

Why is this a beautiful Lake Basin Mall still Empty.
It's the Biggest Mall In Western Kenya But Apparently 70% of it is still Empty
That's after almost 4 Years since it was opened.
This, together with The Cathedral and mega malls are very vacant.
This era where almost everything is shifting to online sells and marketing , we need to reduce the number of malls and commercial buildings we built and focus and other infrastructures.
Nobody is paying 20k+ rent to sell laptops before a woria neighbour opens next to him and sell at a half price kabisa.
Many people are avoiding the malls.
