This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch alert . This alert is in effect for all communities between Wetaskiwin and Calgary, that are west of Veteran's Memorial Highway 36 and east of the foothills (see detailed map in link). Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Thunderstorms may develop in the foothills later this afternoon. If they develop, they will become severe with very large hail, very strong winds, and a risk of a tornado. This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
