Jumping in here at the end of a thread. Typically, I see both sides but come down to the fact/opinion that central banks should not be given responsibility to control markets and rates. Their only role should be to provide liquidity in a true crisis. It is hubris to think 1/2

And if they, as you say, (the so many they) may not be capable of planning, how are they suitable or appropriate of planning the lives of billions?
