@CordasFilip @davidfowl Leadership pushed AI tools, but it was Claude/Opus 4.5 that truly changed things for me. No hand-written code in 6 wks, major dent in tech debt.
Mandating AI doesn't work - it must be evangelized, shown solving real problems, and constantly reevaluated. It's only getting better
English

@davidfowl Yes, basically every developer I talked to said they are adding 'AI tool usage' in performance reviews because people are just not using the tools enough. And I am not seeing much productivity or quality improvement overall
English

Since December my primary coding development has shifted back to the CLI. I primarily use copilot CLI for my day to day development, I still have a claude max plan and I occasionally use claude code as well.
I use VS code to look at diffs of the code but haven't written much by hand in ~1.5 months.
I used big VS the other day to do some advanced multi threaded debugging, but I rarely open it now.
PS: I have unlimited tokens.

@davidfowl I've been raising unit test coverage of old repos from below 50% to near 90% in only a couple hours. Tests look as good or better, more thorough than what I'd write. And I don't want to write them.
English

@davidfowl I completely agree. We've all been "tinkering" with AI, but it'll hit hard this year.
English

@davidfowl I had my "ah ha!" AI Agent moment two weeks ago, thanks to Claude Code/Opus 4.5. Reminded me of previous momenta like MP3, connecting a web page to a DB, and (Docker) containers. All of a sudden, the way I did things changed, and I didn't want to go back.

@nickchapsas I'm still waiting for c# to get "on error resume next"

@parkerworth I recently read that only the US and Australia allow those ads.
English

1. The prescription drug advertisement paradox
Every other TV commercial promotes prescription medications.
Which all have cheerful people frolicking in fields while a rapid-fire voiceover lists all lethal side effects.
Almost nowhere else in the world allows direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising.
Wtf?
English

@Mariners I am asking for a favor. Attending the final games this year is a huge Oakland A's fan @gamer_athletics. It's an extremely difficult time for us life-long A's fans. If you could show him some Seattle love and bring some joy to the final games, it would mean a lot.

@CaseyAPratt It doesn't have to be him. He's failed to get a park built time and time again. John, let someone else try. Sell.
English

I agree with John. He tried. The issue is, he only gave the bare minimum and wasn’t willing to invest meaningfully in his roster or his stadium plans. While his franchise valuation shot up a billion dollars, he had his hand out and his wallet closed. And that’s the end of the story.
Every accolade he mentions in that letter happened prior to his ownership. The A’s and Quakes are the laughing stocks of their respective leagues under his stewardship. He held in his hands something of generational value for A’s fans, and he let EVERY SINGLE ONE of them down. He should sell the team and expand to Las Vegas when he has a plan in place and a shovel in the ground.

@BobMooreNV @howardstutz @MLB But it's a "dry heat"?!
:-)
That's what people said when I lived in central California. Somehow that was supposed to mean it wasn't too bad. Spoiler, it was. I left.
English

@howardstutz @MLB Been in a lot of Arizona Spring Training ballparks. The Angel's Diablo Stadium and Sacramento's Sutter Health Park were the absolute hottest. Couldn't finish either game.
SHP is right on the Sacramento River, too. It will be terrible for everyone in the park and on the field.
English

I've been tied up with travel and another story today.
It sounds like this story took on a life of its own and evolved so that @MLB had to step in.
MLB says A's games in Sacramento are a 'certainty' despite concerns about stadium playing conditions

@shanselman The last Star Wars game I installed required no less than five 3.5" floppies to install. (Tie Fighter)
What have I missed?
English

#StarWarsOutlaws is just gorgeous. It’s almost just enough to walk around and soak it all up

@TacoTimeNW They've been sold out all week... gotta ramp up production! :-)
English

@MattGeorgeSAC Watched it happen from my home in Seattle... was on a plane to OAK the next morning for game 5. I had two tix and my dad drove from central Cal to meet me there. Despite the loss, what a memory!
