The beast of the southern beech forests - male and female Magellanic Woodpeckers, Ushuaia, Argentina. We were fortunate to get such great views of these fantastic birds, but getting photos was really tricky especially of the male despite them perching in the open.

If ever a bird was aptly named it has to be the Great Grebe - it was an absolute beast and was close inshore sheltering from the 50mph plus winds in El Calafate, Argentina last week.
