Recently, we started getting asked: Why does my recent tax bill already show the tax rate for the VATRE? State law required the school board to approve the VATRE (Proposition A) 12 cent increase to the Maintenance & Operations tax when they set the tax rate in August - making the new tax rate $1.1469. Therefore, if Proposition A is approved by the voters, the $1.1469 tax rate shown on the recent appraisal district tax statements already includes the $0.12 VATRE increase.   Additionally, if bond propositions B, C, D are approved by voters, it will have no additional impact on the tax rate shown on the appraisal district tax statements.

Rockwall ISD salaries are among the lowest in our area, making it hard to fill teaching & staff positions. If voters approve Prop A, it will help provide competitive salaries for current educators, hire more teachers for our growing enrollment, and cover unfunded state mandates.
