@pitchfork I love Tom Waits, but there’s no way that Rain Dogs is even close to being a 10. From that era, Swordfishtrombones is a way better album – it’s not even close! Even the live album (and film) from that period, Frank’s Wild Years, is superior to Rain Dogs, which is good but patchy.

@ATRightMovies I don’t think it’s a particularly great film, but the first twenty minutes or so of Saving Private Ryan continued to rattle around in my head for a little while after seeing it. Visceral and terrifyingly relentless.

@pipjcee I watch Millwall at home and like the atmosphere at The Den. But the chant against Mateta was vile. Sad because the club itself works so hard to do good, yet there remains a number of what Neil Harris rightly called thickos who go to away games – most of us want them to get lost!

@henrywinter It’s very obviously the latter. This season I’ve had to switch allegiance since the team I’ve supported for decades (Ipswich) committed an awful error and got themselves promoted to a division that uses VAR. VAR and the thrill of football are totally incompatible with each other.

This is either a great advertisement for catching clear and obvious errors with VAR. Or a great advertisement for the drama and compelling chaos of the game without VAR. #ARSMUN
