@VanCortlandt666 For what it's worth, had it gone to trial, the case would have cost the state at least another $1M, including defense costs. And then if he was convicted and sentenced to death, appeals would likely have lasted for decades … costing Idaho millions and millions more.

@BrianEntin @WordWhispers The only agenda was to tally the total paid by Idaho taxpayers on this case. As the story explains, the salaries of state workers were not included for either the prosecution or law enforcement. The figures do have added costs, like travel expenses, autopsies and IGG lab fees.

@nowicanjoin Criminal defendants, including those charged with murder, are constitutionally entitled to adequate legal counsel, even if they are indigent. The question for taxpayers: Should it come at costs in the millions of dollars — well more than most any private citizen could afford?
