@Agirite Not surprising 🐓 Poultry grows fast and needs less feed than cattle, which matters for food security. I’m curious how much of this growth is coming from local farmers vs imports across the continent?

@Agirite Great breakdown. In my experience record keeping is the hidden engine of herd growth. Track births, weights and feed and scaling from 20 to 100 goats becomes much easier. Many farmers skip this part.

**HOW TO BUILD A 100-GOAT FARM IN 18 MONTHS** Many farmers dream of owning 100 goats. Few understand the system behind it. Here's how to grow your goat farm to 100 strong animals in just 18 months using planning, breeding, and proper management. **A small thread** **Phase 1: Setup & Starter Stock (Month 1–3)** Start with 1 plot of land. Build raised pens. Install clean water and feed storage. Buy 20–25 healthy does and 2–3 strong bucks. Quarantine, deworm, and vaccinate every new animal. **Phase 2: First Breeding Cycle (Month 4–9)** Use controlled mating so most does give birth around the same time. Feed a mix of grasses, legumes, PKC, forage, and molasses. Monitor health, tag animals, and keep records. **Phase 3: First Kidding (Month 10–12)** Expect 35–50 kids if managed well. Feed pregnant does calcium and protein-rich diets. Wean kids at 2.5–3 months. Deworm and start creep feed. Keep the best for breeding, separate the rest by weight. **Phase 4: Second Mating & Grow-Out (Month 13–16)** Re-mate original does for a second cycle. Grow first batch to sale weight (20–25kg). Keep top kids for future breeding. Sell the rest. **Phase 5: Sales & Scaling (Month 17–18)** By now you'll have: – 35–50 breeding does – 3–5 bucks – 30–50 grow-outs – 100 goats total, ready to sell, breed, or scale further Market to butchers, farmers, meat buyers, and online. Farming success is built with systems. Not guesswork.

@TribalArmy Important reminder that forests aren’t empty land. Indigenous communities have managed these ecosystems for generations. Modern farming still has a lot to learn from that kind of land stewardship.

This circular thatched-roof village in the lush Amazon rainforest is home to indigenous people who remain uncontacted. Brazil's Javari Valley hosts around 100 such groups. Conservation isn’t just about saving forests, it’s also about protecting the identity and existence of these communities.

For farmers climate risk isn’t just heat, it’s broken timing. When seasons shift, old planting calendars fall apart. I’m relying more on real-time weather and smarter irrigation.

@mckennapr In farming we hate waste in water, soil, or nutrients. Energy should think the same way. Methane leaks mean lost product and unnecessary emissions. Fix the leaks, capture the gas, improve efficiency. Seems like common sense.
