@Mr_JSheffield @recusant_raja @SkyNews @BethRigby @jessphillips @elonmusk Have you looked at the 7 recommendations IICSA made on CSE? Do you think that the same institutions that presided over & may have been involved in this are the right people to fix it? When there has so far been no actual examination of the who, what, when, where & how

@TukiFromKL The IRGC were never going to voluntarily give up its uranium. They have been abundantly clear that they never would for years & they have literally no reason to & never will.

🚨do you understand what iran just accused the united states of doing.. iran's foreign minister just said the US pilot rescue mission may have been a cover to steal enriched uranium.. let that sit for a second.. the US sent a team into hostile territory to recover a downed F-15 pilot.. that part is confirmed.. but iran is now claiming the operation went near nuclear facilities and the "rescue" was cover for extracting uranium samples.. here's why this accusation is terrifying regardless of whether it's true.. if it's false.. iran is building the public justification to never give up its nuclear program.. "they literally tried to steal it during a war".. every future negotiation just got 10x harder because iran can now point to this and say "this is what happens when we cooperate".. if it's true.. the US just ran a covert nuclear materials operation inside a sovereign country under the cover of a pilot rescue.. during active ceasefire talks.. on the same day they killed iran's intelligence chief and bombed a defense factory in shiraz.. either way the result is the same.. iran will never voluntarily give up its uranium now.. and every country watching just learned that even a rescue mission might be a heist.. the trust that makes arms deals possible just died TODAY.

@Groves17Diana @RMiller13314049 @higgyboson I understand this is a common mindset amongst the baby boomers - that their relative generational wealth is a result of their generation’s superior moral fibre relative to younger generations but it simply is not borne out by any of the facts.

@kfvalues @RMiller13314049 @higgyboson Housing wealth IS the result of working hard. The welfare state didn’t pay my mortgage. People today do not have the same character/ behaviour as older people. Work for your rewards, don’t expect Mummy and Daddy to hand you everything.

Dear Techboy, You seem to be slightly annoyed at people who own larger than average homes after they've worked for 50+ years. We have a lovely big bungalow with a large garden, summerhouse, huge workshop for me, smaller workshop for Mrs Higgy. The garden faces South so we get lots of sun and, as there's lots of glass on the rear of the house it benefits from huge amounts of solar heat gain when the sun pokes out from behind the clouds in the winter. We're all toasty and warm because we've insulated it really well and have a very efficient heating system. We can park both vehicles on the driveway, which is nice. We have a massive garage too. Which is useful for storing all manner of.... well, stuff. We've made one of the bedrooms into a dedicated music room. It's rather lovely. I can listen to all my old vinyls and, as we're detached, I can play them REALLY loud without upsetting any neighbours. You'd love it. The loft space is absolutely ginormous too. We could probably convert it into a swanky apartment and rent it out to someone for a tenner per month as a "gesture", including all bills, but do you know what? We don't really want to share. We like it as it is. Oh, and we have a huge Easter Island statue in the front garden just because we can. I don't feel guilty about any of this by the way. Mrs Higgy spent her entire 40 year career as an NHS nurse, which is some feat. And, at 66, I'm still slogging my guts out as a Painter and Decorator which isn't just about painting someones kitchen ceiling but involves lots of climbing up and down ladders and clambering over scaffolding etc. So, in summary, we like it here and we're staying.

Majority of all the 4, 5 and 6 bedroom homes in my area are all occupied by boomers. They spend all day from Spring to Autumn gardening. Some of them can barely bend down. I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t just sell up. Instead they complain about being unable to heat the property. Any time a home comes up for sale, it’s because someone has died. Then a lot of people don’t even want to buy them because they’ve not been decorated since 1985 and have no bath.

@Pabel5Pabel @PhilGriff586 @higgyboson What point were you trying to make? It is not clear & the post refers to boomers being ashamed to be out of work & working washing dishes etc but says nothing about other generations.

What has a "generous welfare state" got to do with it? Most of us worked really hard, sorted out our own childcare, didn't claim a penny apart from perhaps child benefit and just got on with it when faced with adversity and 15% interest rates. Yes, houses were cheaper compared to average wages/average house prices now but we saved our cash, bought cheap cars, didn't go clubbing every weekend, no expensive holidays to exotic places, very few takeaways, no flashy clothes and the women weren't all orange with £50 worth of fake nails on each finger.

@RMiller13314049 @higgyboson Housing wealth isn’t the result of working hard. It is the result of financialisation plus a very generous welfare state & unusually good economic conditions. People with the exact same character & behaviours now & before do not end up with the same lives as the boomer generation

@kfvalues @PhilGriff586 @higgyboson Can you seriously not read? This is hard work. Look at it again. I have highlighted your first concern - the evidence or lack thereof- and it looks like you have misread or misunderstood the next part.

@Pabel5Pabel @PhilGriff586 @higgyboson I understand that is your perception but there is actual data on the relative value of cash transfers through time. Though, again, cash transfers are not the primary part of the welfare state that enabled the boomer generational relative housing wealth & aren’t of particular

@Pabel5Pabel @PhilGriff586 @higgyboson Every single person accesses the welfare state unless you are claiming boomers in general did not go to school, use the NHS, were not subject to taxation etc etc

@kfvalues @PhilGriff586 @higgyboson No it wasn't. I don't know why you are adamant about this. It was generous in some areas but not in others so you shouldn't keep making sweeping statements. The fact that most did not access it compared to nowadays means it didn't figure in most people's lives.

@PhilGriff586 @higgyboson I’ve not dismissed anyone. I made a point that the generational housing wealth is not due to propensity towards working hard but due to unique political & economic conditions that benefited that generation in particular.

@kfvalues @higgyboson I wish you well, of course. I would suggest that you don't dismiss the voice of boomers so easily. And I'm glad to see a solid work ethic in some young people today. Be positive, work your ass off, and don't let anyone tell you it's pointless.

@gabystubbs1 @PJA1066 Other taxable benefits are not universal, nor is the pension. They all have conditions which one must meet in order to claim them.
