Certain sections continue to dictate what Muslims should or should not say, sing, or feel as though faith were so fragile that a patriotic song could threaten it. Vande Mataram in its essence is a salute to the motherland, not a shift in religious belief.

@listenaasif *Expressions in literature carry diverse meanings for different minds; not every word is a matter of creed. To assume otherwise is to narrow both faith and intellect.Those who choose not to interpret religiously should not be made to feel guilty for doing so(hope you understand).

@khaatoon_ bow to thee, Mother,
richly-watered, richly-fruited,
cool with the winds of the south,
dark with the crops of the harvests,
The Mother!
Her nights rejoicing in the glory of the moonlight,
her lands clothed beautifully with her trees in flowering bloom,
sweet of laughter,

@listenaasif ‘I bow to thee, Mother’ in Vande Mataram is poetic, not theological. Poetry often speaks in metaphors of love,and devotion it does not demand literal belief. We admire countless Muslim poets who used similar language of surrender and love without questioning faith each time.
