Who can you guard??? I asked 50 college players what reason did their coach tell them was why they didn’t play as much as they wanted. 39 of them said “DEFENSE”. They also said it caused a trickle down effect where they felt SO much pressure to not allow their man to score it mentally froze their feet up and they began to question should they steal the ball that they KNEW they could steal. Should they help off of their or guy cause the elephant 🐘 was in the room that they were a bad defender so human nature makes you want to just make sure YOUR Guy doesn’t score and now you’re not putting your ❤️ into helping. I have some old school in me and for a split second think “shut up and just play some defense.” Then I remember I was that guy in our Fullcourt press who once I struggled at it and was taken out of the game(as I should have)..It mentally shut me down from what or who I could guard. I was literally in a national TV game on CBS playing AGAINST 3 things…the other team, myself and my teams defense mentally all because I didn’t lean in mentally on what I could do. You have 90 days before regular season starts. Improve this part of your game and you will be on the court long enough to do a little more offensively. #seeyouatthefinishline✌🏾

learn to sit with and truly process wins & success. it’s easy to breeze thru achievements, feel good about it in the moment and move onto the next. but those wins deserve to find home in your mind. they deserve to reside within your confidence. they deserve to be remembered.
