@charlescwcooke it out to see the result. No reference to immutable characteristics, religion, political affiliation or ideology. The only factors would be equal representation & adherence to arbitrary factors such as uniform shape. Digression from shape would be a red flag needing explanation
English

@charlescwcooke TN is 42,000 square miles. Create 42 districts equal in size and shape. Apply population factor and adjust. It’s stupidly simple, but the result would be fairer. I understand that it would never work because people would have to trade things for fairness but I would love to game

I asked Sean Trende to teach me about the history of gerrymandering. What is it? When did it start? When did these modern wars begin? Can it be solved? Who is on defense? Was the 2020 Census fair? What will 2030 look like?nationalreview.com/podcasts/the-c…

@LBhereandnow @PenlandKW @HQNewsNow Idiot? Wasn’t he doing exactly what a good interviewer is supposed to do- ask a question and not let the person being interviewed get away with obfuscation? If he’s truly an idiot this was one of his best moments. I wish more interviewers had the courage to press Trump
English

@PenlandKW @HQNewsNow I love that one idiot who keeps insisting on a verse when Dump is trying to talk louder/over him and at one point, Dump’s eyes bulge in their sockets like some possessed demon 😈
English

Q: I'm wondering what your most favored Bible verses are?
Trump: Well, uh... I wouldn't want to get into it because to me that's very personal, so I don't want to get into verses.
Q: There's no verse that means a lot to you? Are you an Old Testament guy or a New Testament guy?
Trump: Uh... Probablyyyyyy... equal
English

@PenlandKW @HQNewsNow I would be delighted to engage in a discussion with you if you wish. I can correct you on every point. IF you were to hear what I had to say you will be better for it. Mind you, I won’t talk AT you but with you. I will hear what you have to say.
English

@HQNewsNow Good grief, who tf cares? Do you ask other heads of state what THEIR favorite bible/talmud/koran/sutra verses, ad infinitum, are? Leave religion out of the political arena. It's what's gotten the world into the mess it's in in the first place.🙄
English

@PenlandKW @HQNewsNow Haha! Say you’re not a Christian without saying you’re not a Christian. You will be the author of the most ridiculously absurd thing I’ve seen on X for a very long time. 👏. Every sentence was a declaration of your ignorance.
English

What would be incredible is if @realDonaldTrump is studying the Bible right now so he can prove his critics wrong.
RT@RT_com
‘Maybe Trump has forgotten what's written in that Bible, or more likely, he never knew it in the first place’ — Chuck Schumer on Trump’s Pope Leo comments ‘It's the same Donald Trump who has called the Bible his favorite book on the campaign trail, but can't name a single verse’
English

@JDVance @realDonaldTrump disparaged Pope Leo and then posted a picture of himself as Jesus. Where are you? Obediently silent. I’m glad Trump exposed you for who you are and what your god is. Good luck “figuring it out”.
English

@toddstarnes LOL. Desperation move. When Trump does something inexplicably terrible? “Biden”. When he does something appallingly disgusting? “We’re going to have to go full ‘Obama’ on this one!”
English

@conservmillen Then you’re astoundingly gullible and willing to believe what you’re told to believe.

We are the first humans to witness a sunset on Mars. For 4.5 billion years, the Sun slipped beneath the rusty horizon of the Red Planet in perfect silence. No eyes had ever seen it. No heart had ever felt the quiet awe of another world’s day turning to night.Tonight, that changed forever. For the first time in the history of the universe, human eyes — ours — watched the Sun go down on another planet. A small, blue-tinged Sun sinking through a thin, alien sky, painting the ancient craters and dunes in hues no Earth sunset has ever known.Let that sink in.We didn’t just send machines this time.
We sent our curiosity, our wonder, and our gaze across 140 million miles of empty space… and caught a glimpse of something that had been happening alone since before life on Earth even began. This is more than a photo.
It’s a milestone in the human story. We are becoming a multi-planetary species — one sunset at a time. This version keeps the poetic wonder of your original while adding depth, rhythm, and a stronger sense of historical significance. It feels more cinematic and shareable without losing the emotional punch.

My Evangelical friends are constantly telling me, "Sure, Trump isn't perfect, but the Democrats blah, blah, blah..."
Question: Can you think of a Democratic president who has ever a) tweeted out a vulgar message on Easter Sunday morning, or b) committed idolatry by casting themselves as Jesus?

There is behavior that's so self-evidently deranged that merely seeing it should lead to fury and disgust. I'm concerned, however, that some evangelicals are so influenced by Trump that they won't unite with their Catholic brothers and sisters in response to Trump's blasphemy and intolerable attacks on the pope, but will instead turn against them.

The math on this black hole should mass-humble every physicist who thinks we understand gravity.
M87's central black hole is 6.5 billion times the mass of our Sun. It's 38 billion kilometers across. It spins at 80% of the theoretical maximum speed allowed by physics. And it's firing a plasma beam at near light speed that stretches 5,000 light-years into space.
To put 5,000 light-years in perspective: if you started driving at highway speed when the Egyptian pyramids were built, you'd have covered roughly 0.0005 light-years by now. This beam covers ten million times that distance.
The plasma travels in a spiral along a coiled magnetic field. Hubble watched it for 13 years just to confirm the motion pattern. And the beam isn't just decorating empty space. Stars near its path explode twice as often as stars elsewhere in the galaxy. Nobody knows why. The lead researcher at Stanford said they don't understand the mechanism at all.
The black hole eats roughly 90 Earth masses of material per day. The energy output from that feeding process matches the power of the jet itself, somewhere between 10^33 and 10^37 joules per second. The upper end of that range is a number so large it has no human analogy.
Your brain runs on 20 watts. This thing outputs more energy per second than every star in the Milky Way combined. And we photographed it with a telescope in 2019.

English

@emzanotti @charlescwcooke This is a very strange argument. It’s not a mass but it’s an important and beautiful service. What’s the problem? Why doesn’t the Zonotti lady sound angry.
English

@charlescwcooke Also, each priest can do the Commemoration once, and any priest who serves the Pentagon will probably be doing it as his home church.
Also, it is not “among the most significant liturgies in the church’s year,” so clearly he ChatGPT’ed that one.
English

My point is that the email says that there is “no Catholic Mass,” and that this is because there usually is a mass, but there aren’t Catholic Masses on Good Friday, but instead a Catholic service that is pretty hard to put on outside of a church. (1)
Gerard Baker@gerardtbaker
But there are regular and important Catholic services on Good Friday. The Solemn Commemoration of the Passion and Death of Our Lord is among the most significant liturgies in the church’s year - typically better attended than most Sunday masses. I’m not sure what your point is.

@Realrclark25 @Memphis @KingJames It’s inevitable. I can’t really blame him. But he can sense that he and Memphis don’t match up and that’s perfectly fine with me. I’d rather lose with a team of hard working athletes than win with talented princes. I want the best for all of Memphis but I hope we’re always real.
English

@Realrclark25 This man is brilliant. Everything he said was accurate. I would add to what he said that Memphis isn’t built for celebrities. There’s nothing bougy about Memphis, and that’s a point of pride here. @Memphis is genuine. @KingJames has surely lost touch with the genuine world.
English

The Memphis conversation has become silly, & it’s not LeBron’s fault. Many prominent players have echoed his sentiments. “We” the media have made it about community & culture instead of infrastructure.
Basketball players live a bougie, max contract road life, but instead of imploring the Grizzlies to move to Nashville find a solution in Memphis. Also, If we going to ask athletes to speak on behalf of the community at all times a lot of others need to assess their choices as well!
