🌳⛰️ #SaveAravali This is NOT about “hills.” It’s about water, food, air & climate for North India.. The Aravalli range is a silent life-support system. Undermine it , and multiple systems fail together.. 🔬 The scientific data: 💧 Water: • 20–45% of local groundwater recharge in parts of Rajasthan–Haryana comes from Aravalli hill systems. • Disturbance = recharge collapse → water tables falling ~0.5–1.5 m/year. 🌊 Rivers: • Aravalli-fed rivers survive on groundwater baseflow. • Less recharge = flash floods during rain, dead rivers afterward. 🌾 Food: • ~60% of irrigation here depends on groundwater. • Deeper borewells = 30–70% higher energy costs → 10–25% crop yield loss. 🟤 Soil: • Thin hill soils erode 5–10× faster once vegetation is removed. • 1 cm of topsoil = 100–300 years to regenerate. 🦋 Biodiversity: • Habitat fragmentation can cut local species by 30–50% within a decade. • Pollinator loss directly hits crops. 🌫️ Air & health: • Aravallis are a natural dust barrier for NCR. • Every +10 µg/m³ PM2.5 raises mortality risk by ~4–6%. #SaveAravali #SaveAravaliHills

One man's obsession with selling is going to erase the oldest fold-mountain systems of the world, much older than the Himalayas from text books as well as India. On November 20th, Supreme Court accepted a new definition of Aravalli hill ranges that the Union Environment Ministry proposed: 'With this new definition, at least 90% of the Aravalli will no longer be protected legally as only 1048 of 12081 Aravalli Hills are 100 metres or more in height'. 🛑 this Destruction. #aravallihills #SaveAravalli
