SOMALILAND PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS: IEOM PRELIMINARY REPORT: The International Election Observation Mission (IEOM) has released its preliminary assessment of Somaliland's presidential elections, noting a largely peaceful and calm voting process. Registered voters were largely able to freely exercise their right to vote. While the IEOM did not identify significant irregularities or electoral malpractice, some procedural and administrative inconsistencies were observed. These inconsistencies, the report suggests, could be mitigated through enhanced training for election officials. The IEOM report highlights several key areas for improvement. These include strengthening measures to ensure the secrecy of the ballot, implementing more regular updates to the voter register to maintain accuracy, and improving voter education on electoral procedures. These recommendations aim to further enhance the integrity and efficiency of future elections in Somaliland. The outcome of this election is expected to significantly shape Somaliland's political landscape in the coming years, impacting domestic policy and international relations.
