This is to prevent people from abusing the free lawyer system and keep them available to individuals who truly cannot afford them. If you make 48k a year with 3 kids then u must pay.

Not only that but you don’t need any money whatsoever for an attorney. A state-appointed attorney would probably get you similar results as a private lawyer would in this case, but usually not
