Earwax coats the metallic plates touching the charging pin in the case, or sweat mixed with dust may cause issues. I've had this issue multiple times; cleaning the earbuds' metallic contacts restores charging. Earwax acts as an insulator, even if the coating is nearly invisible.

Just discovered Adapt Sound feature in Spotify/Android (under equalizer in settings) 🤯 Does such a great job of compensating for my terrible left ear/tinnitus. Here's the graph. Also first time trying Airpods pro noise cancelling and my life will never be the same. Incredible.
