Omo Forest Reserve, one of Nigeria’s biodiversity hotspots in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, is a centre of attraction for different reasons, but it's in decline. Read @fijnigeria's Sodeeq Atanda's diary entry on the trip to this forest recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as Nigeria’s first Biosphere Reserve in 1977.👇🏾

The decline in vulture populations in Nigeria is due to multiple threats; from habitat loss to poisoning and harmful traditional practices. These threats are wiping out nature’s clean-up crew, leaving our environment and health at risk. It’s crucial that we work together, support conservation efforts, and safeguard their future, because protecting vultures means protecting our ecosystems too. #NCF #VultureAwarenessDay #IVAD #Vulture #VultureConservation #SaveVultures #ProtectWildlife #NatureSanitaryOfficers #WildlifeInNigeria

Every first Saturday in September is International Vulture Awareness Day! It’s a day to spotlight nature’s sanitary officers - vultures and raise awareness about the vital role they play in keeping our ecosystems healthy. Without vultures, humans are vulnerable to the spread of infectious diseases. Despite their importance, vulture populations are decreasing at an alarming rate, with many species now endangered. Let’s change the story together! Help us spread the word, share this post, tag a friend and join us to protect these mighty species. #NCF #InternationalVultureAwarenessDay #IVAD #Vulture #VultureConservation #SaveVultures #ProtectWildlife #NatureSanitaryOfficers #WildlifeInNigeria #SayNoToPoaching

At the Biodiversity Capacity Building Training, Dr. @kikiegbe reminded us that nature is not a luxury, it is survival. Healthy ecosystems power food security, drive economic growth, strengthen climate resilience, and safeguard public health. When they are lost, we don’t just lose forests or wildlife, we risk our own future. Nigeria is one of Africa’s most biodiverse nations, home to rare and endangered species like the Cross River Gorilla, Nigeria-Cameroon Chimpanzee, and Niger Delta Red Colobus. From the lush mangroves of the south to the vast savannahs of the north, our landscapes are rich but increasingly fragile. Key Takeaways: - Biodiversity is about people. Protecting it means securing jobs, food, health, and resilience. - Nigeria’s ecosystems are rich but under severe threat. - Frameworks like the Global Biodiversity Framework (30x30 target) provide real pathways for protection and restoration. - Conservation is not just science, it is a national development agenda. At Dataphyte, we believe the media must bridge data, policy, and people telling these stories so that conservation moves beyond technical circles and becomes a national movement. #biodiversity #datafordevelopment #ClimateAdaptation #dataforchange

A sustainable environment is not built by a single individual, it is achieved through collective action and collaboration. Businesses play a critical role in this shared responsibility. We deeply appreciate our corporate partners who continuously support our mission of building a greener future. Recently, Multichem Selovo joined us in advancing the Green Recovery Nigeria programme, through a tree-planting exercise at the Lekki Conservation Centre. Every tree planted is more than just a seedling in the ground, it signifies a commitment to environmental restoration, climate resilience, and a sustainable legacy for future generations. We extend our sincere gratitude to Multichem for their valuable support. We also invite other businesses and organizations to partner with us in driving environmental sustainability. To explore partnership opportunities, kindly send us a direct message or call us on +234 903 489 5750 Together, we can build the greener Nigeria we all envision. #NCF #GreenRecoveryNigeria #ForestManagement #ClimateAdaptability #ClimateResilience #Livelihood #ClimateMitigation #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #Reforestation #SustainableEnvironment #Sustainability
