The idea that homosexuality is some kind of “defect” that causes societal collapse just isn’t supported by evidence or history. Same-sex relationships have existed in virtually every culture and time period we know of. What has changed over time isn’t the existence of gay people, it’s society’s willingness to accept them. Major medical and psychological organizations have long rejected the idea that homosexuality is a disorder or defect. It’s simply one of the natural variations in human sexuality. And the claim that it leads to “moral decay” or societal collapse doesn’t hold up either. Countries and societies that have accepted LGBTQ people haven’t collapsed. If anything, they tend to have higher levels of stability, health, and freedom. Respecting people for who they are doesn’t make society weaker. Treating people as defective for something they didn’t choose is what actually erodes the values of fairness and dignity that healthy societies depend on.
