This space is tough.
I want people to love my photography and art, obviously, and I want them to resonate with it enough to buy it, in one form or another.
I also want to make great friends, joke around, let the real me show, and have a good time here.
But I also want to put forward a professional face at times, and keep my online persona clean and business-like.
And of course, some of you know that I have political opinions and I'm not afraid to shitpost about them.
It's tough, and I've heard others say the same. I've heard talk about wearing many masks, or many hats, or many other accessories in order to deal with all the different modes of being here.
But I don't really subscribe to that. Instead, I like to think of every interaction I have and post I make here as part of a feed; the Steve feed. And, just like my media feeds on various apps and sites, the Steve feed is vibrant and varied. You won't catch me behaving the same from day to day; the only consistent thing is the Steve feed itself.

Steve and I have very many opposing views, sometimes our views overlap somewhere in the middle too, which to me is the most important and enlightening part of civil discourse. More importantly: I respect Steve. Never met him, but have interacted on many different occasions. He’s a good steward of the space and he’s someone whose art is worth exploring. You don’t have to align with someone’s views 100% to respect them, after all you can tell who is genuine just by the way they treat you after a spirited debate. I frankly would rather hear someone’s honest opinion, even if it differs than mine and be friends as usual. If the world had more of this, we wouldn’t be in as big of a mess as we are.
Don’t be scared of people with different opinions, and don’t be scared to collect some photography, and last but not least: SUPPORT PEOPLE WHO ARE GENUINELY THEMSELVES, and not putting on a facade just to get the sale.

I have been quiet lately as an old friend took his life last week. No warning signs or obvious explanation. A young family and so many friends devastated. I now regret not asking how he was feeling.
Check in on your friends regularly, you never know who is suffering unseen 😢
