@killingthelaw
After their children are convicted of Joint Enterprise murder, families fight back to kill the law that has imprisoned their loved-ones for life.

Last night, we held our first evidence session of the Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise. From those with lived experience to academics to CPS representatives, our panel of witnesses agreed on the urgent need for greater clarity on definitions of joint enterprise law.

This week, MPs led by @KimJohnsonMP tabled an Early Day Motion calling on the Labour government to make good on its pledge, while in opposition, to reform the joint enterprise legal dragnet that has seen friends and associates collectively punished for the crimes of an individual

Andrew Malkinson spent over 17 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. This is his story, told by him and those close to him. Please watch and RT.

Sat on a train reading PROOF issue 6 @JusticeGap @JonRobins10 obviously jumping to the chapter on #jointenterprise Wow, I know the story well & still it makes me cry. @killingthelaw @antoncalifano @JENGbA not sure my heart can manage the full issue in one go, i’m so angry & sad

The prison population in England and Wales stands at 87,706. There are 168 more people in prison today than there were last week, and 4,518 more than this time last year. There are 84,118 people in men's prisons and 3,588 in women's prisons. howardleague.org/prison-watch/

It was great to see MPs from all parties supporting the debate. Very sad to see ‘some’ MPs filibustering, playing politics with the issue, “talking it out” 😟#jointenterprise

@KimJohnsonMP @felicitygerry @RobBAylesbury "Autistic children... children who are exploited to sell drugs... a woman looking for her shoes during a violent disorder. All these scenarios describe circumstances in which people can be convicted of serious offences, despite making no significant contribution themselves"
