@bowserfartcuck the slice of life angle is what every "pilot" does because nobody has any ideas other than characters talking, which frankly makes it worse. it's a pilot where nothing happens (not entirely bad, still) and the artstyle is derivative and played out.

@bowserfartcuck products of their time VS. actively copying an artstyle are different. making a cartoon thats like a generalized, idealized, and emulated version of art from like 2000-2008 is not creative and also boring.

@bowserfartcuck if you go on pinterest and look up "y2k art", 9 out of 10 of the images that will be provided will be artwork done in the last 4 years that is directly copying this aesthetic from like 20 years ago. don't be dense like this isn't a prevalent trend.

Honestly, people that say this movie is bad aren't worth dignifying. It's not perfect, but it's far from the worst Godzilla movie ever made. It's the best the Monsterverse has to offer. It was just released at an unfortunate time.

@LaihaTransgirl mostly every single MV-original kaiju is quite ugly looking frankly. Titan X, Shimo, Skar King, whatever random smaller crap they make up for LOM... they're all incredibly uninspired and drab. and have really shit names

@killkactus You know you can have a narrative/movie without dialogue & non human characters, right? It’s been done before. What I want is a well written story where the protagonist are kaiju. It’s not that hard, there are creators who could pull it off. genndy tartakovsky could do it.

@VicMonstrous you are being dense on purpose if you think that a movie with a "kaiju-only narrative" (no people talking, no A-plot with a human protagonist) is not exclusively spectacle. you want candy for dinner. this movie doesn't exist yet because you'd need to be a genius to make it right.
