Let me bring to your attention what’s happening in Gilgil, Sunguloi. Residents have reached out to me saying they’re facing serious problems with wildlife. Buffalos & other animals have been invading their farms, destroying maize, the little they depend on for survival. KWS had promised to act but nothing has been done. The MP, Martha Wangari, has also failed to offer a solution and has been lying sometimes. Meanwhile, locals say if they dare defend their crops, they risk being arrested. But worse they say they've heard rumors that the mp and others are saying they have fenced the park and that animals are no longer able to cross into their farms; while in reality it's a lie . They are requesting for a strong fence to prevent the buffalos from getting into their farms & any other solutions. This is heartbreaking. In a place with few jobs, these farms are literally life or death. Without maize, families may starve. Human-wildlife conflict must be resolved urgently. Let’s speak up for these people, no matter our political sides. Let's 👉 Tag Martha Wangari, 👉🏻tag KWS, make sure they hear this. I have attached this video from locals. Now that it's about one year after, let me tell you a story. When I sat for KCSE many years ago, we were 216 candidates. I was in stream F and each of the 6 streams had 36 students. One of my classmates in stream F kicked the famous bucket last October. He was the first in our class to throw in the towel. He was an orphaned boy who grew up in a children's home. Didn't have the rare privilege of knowing either of his parents. After excelling in KCPE, he joined Starehe and had a second rare chance of meeting equally economically disadvantaged yet ambitious boys. He passed his KCSE with a spectrum of flying colors and immediately joined med school to pursue a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. He later graduated from Med School, did his internship, practiced a few years and went back to school to become a consultant. After finishing his masters degree, getting a good paycheck, buying his first car and one baby mama to his name, he was involved in a fatal road accident which grabbed his life instantly and permanently. The years of hard work, resilience, passion, and building credible connections failed to pay off. The acrimony was no doubt insurmountable. He got awarded with the inevitable ultimate certificate. It is well JMJM!
