@SkylarW360 I don't disagree, although I am ultimately less bothered by 25 year old jpop women in frilly dresses than the inverse (minors in clubwear or otherwise inappropriately revealing clothes).

@cky_li not to mention this being an issue all over western media as well. it's depressingly inescapable.

@Sweetnerchild a discussion where sexualization of minors is framed as an issue exclusive to Japan is just an excuse for kpop fans to stroke our egos and pretend our industry is somehow better. any fan of both can tell you it's a huge problem across the board.

@Pidagan @nocturne_op_ I wouldn't go that far, I remember plenty of controversy over this MV and particularly Jurina's inclusion in it, many people were uncomfortable, but the song became such a sensation that everyone kinda dropped the issue

and if you're severely lacking reading comprehension please understand my entire point is that both industries are guilty, so it's not an issue exclusive to jpop by any means lol

@damm1056 @nocturne_op_ Aki-P has been infamous for his sexualization of minors since Onyanko Club, he's scum, so I would never make excuses for him lol

@damm1056 @nocturne_op_ I'm referring to the photo OP chose, not the video. There was tons of discourse about that MV at the time.

which is NOT a defense of their impropriety btw, but Aki-P has been using controversy to promote his groups since the 80s, he's literally infamous for it because it's NOT seen as normal lol

also do people not realize AKB's concepts were considered pretty edgy/controversial in Japan at the time? people always point to Seifuku ga Jama wo Suru or Heavy Rotation, but I remember so much discourse about them at the time

@Karmillina the funniest thing about the "it's for p*dos!" outrage in those pannchoa comments is most of these women being too old to promote as kpop idols lol kpop companies are already planning a girl group's downfall by the time the leader turns 23

@nocturne_op_ 100% agree with that, hence why I said it's an issue in both genres... although this photo isn't a great example of it since this is a woman in her mid 20s lol

it's so unsustainable, so many of these kids are going to have osteoperosis and god knows what else by their mid 30s.
